Life goes on. Living acts as the tides of change. Looking back over the year I have had a lot of changes professionally, personally and as a writer in 2013. Professionally I sold many houses as a Realtor. I also evaluated a lot of real estate for banks as well as helped many a home owner find their way to home ownership.
In 2013 I also took an evening job in a call center helping people find substance abuse programs in the U.S., and counseled indirectly several thousand people into rehabilitation programs around the country. Through their eyes vicariously I have been witness to the tragedy of addiction in America.
During this time I also wrote and self-published 10 books. Some were from manuscripts and notes I have written and filed over the twenty years. If you are interested in finding out about my books, I suggest you check out my website at: www.michaeldelaware.com or visit my author page on Amazon here. You can also follow me on Goodreads or Facebook.
Despite all of this, perhaps the best thing I did this past year was to adopt a puppy from an animal shelter. Here is his photo after his first bath (an experience he did not enjoy and you can see he is pouting in this photo). His name is Blue. He is sleeping at my feet as I write this, and he is my very best buddy in my daily life. I went into the experience thinking I would make a little dog happy and save him, but I have come to realize that perhaps he rescued me. He has changed my life in so many good ways, and brings so much joy to my wife and I.
So as I write this, I bring to closure 2013 and look forward to 2014 with some new and exciting goals and plans. Wishing everyone who reads this a prosperous new year!
