January always impresses upon me the freshness of a New Year. Thinking about the twelve months ahead seems somewhat magical in a sense. It is like an clean sheet of paper in a typewriter, and you are at the keys waiting to write. The air is crisp and cold, and sometimes the ground is covered in a blanket of snow.
The New Year is here, and what will we all do with it? Remember last December when everyone was saying the world would end because the Mayan Calendar said so?
Does that not make 2013 that much more magical? WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE! Yet here we are, aren’t we? Carpe’ Diem!
I guess there is never anyone more disappointed than the person who predicts the end of the world. People have been doing that for a long time. I would prefer to think of all that Mayan calendar business as a new beginning, and we are just a few days into it all. The future is ahead for us, and it is up to us to make this world into a great one, or a bad one.
I would go on to say that there is no substitute for rolling up ones sleeves and making the best of it all. Even typewriters have faded away to computers, and so will all the nonsense that goes on in our world at some point too.
